Gunn Dining Room Abstract
Hanover Avenue in Richmond’s Fan District does not disappoint. The row houses that line the street are full of so much character and charm. Perry Gunn’s house is no exception! I met her through the Fan Woman’s Club which we are both members. She learned I am an artist that will do in home consultations for my painting commissions. We arranged a visit and she showed me the wall where she needed art to hang.
I snapped some photos of her front parlor and dining room, where the painting would hang. When she showed me the wall I knew a longer vertical size was needed. I measured 36x48” with my painters tape for her to be able to see how the size of the painting would look.
Before we met she had mentioned she had pink in her decor and would love a pink painting. I brought a couple of my pink abstracts with me for her to see in person and in her space.
Next I got to work in my studio! The composition goes through so many changes before it is finished!
I brought the finished painting back for its new home! I added touches of blue and some green to it also from her fabrics. We had to get the professionals to hang it. Fan home walls which are over 100 years old are made from plaster and can be tricky to put nails into.
I got to see it up on the wall at a Fan Woman’s Cub meeting Perry hosted! Hanging perfectly in its new home.
It was just what the wall and room needed. Thank you Perry for this commission!
