The simple beauties of everyday life are Courtney’s inspiration. She loves to paint outdoors (plein air) and gets most of her ideas from being in nature. The joyful feelings she has from those moments are what she translates onto canvas. Expressing the colors, shapes and movement with her paint, Courtney’s goal is to invite the viewer into her paintings to bring the same happiness and peace that she had while painting. In Courtney’s words, “To be able to create a happy mood or memory for someone through my art is a gift I treasure. I am deeply grateful to be able to share my joy and love of the beauty all around us.”

Courtney is an expressive oil painter living in Charlottesville, Virginia known for her bright bold colors. She has been painting since her freshman year of college at Mary Baldwin where she discovered her love of painting. Her professor, Paul Ryan, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue it. She got a degree in Fine Art (oil painting) and Art Education. After college she worked at a graphic designer and painted in her free time. Courtney continued her art education taking workshops from Joan Elliot at the VMFA, Christaphora Robeers, David Tanner, David Dunlop and painted weekly with a group who loved to share painting techniques and ideas. In 2009, she began painting professionally, selling in stores and galleries all over Virginia.

Courtney’s work can be found bringing joy in homes all over the U.S.
