Corrotoman River Triptych

Linda and Bill Muse reached out to me on Facebook messenger asking about a commission for their river home. We made plans to FaceTime and talk about what they were interested in. Their river house in Lancaster County has a beautiful view of the Corrotoman River. (It feeds into the Rappahanock River.) They wanted their view brought inside to fill space on a large wall in their great room. Given the size of their room and wall we agreed 3 large canvases were best.

The Muses invited my husband Rob and I to their home for a weekend to see their beautiful home and of course the view! We had breakfast on their dock and I did a sketch of their view across the river for reference. After that, we took a tour of the river all the way to The Tide’s Inn on their boat. It is such a fun place! We could tell why the Muses love it so much.

Back in my studio! 3 canvases, 48’ x 36.” I began with a simple charcoal sketch of their scene. (pictured on my laptop)

The canvases were so large I decided a side project was in order! I made easels for my wall to be able to paint on 2 canvases as once.

So much easier!

Delivery day!! It was so exciting to see Linda’s and Bill’s reaction to the paintings.

Love happy clients!

To see the completed paintings in their new home is also a joy of mine!

It was definitely a challenge lining up the 3 large canvases up high on the wall. The 4 of us all worked together!

Up! They are perfect!

This triptych commission was an honor and joy to create. Linda and Bill were every artist’s dream to work with. “This is the view we’d like to have painted. We trust you and your creative judgment—do your thing!”
Thank you for asking me to paint this tranquil scene for your beautiful home, Linda and Bill. What an amazing experience creating this has been!!
