Plein Air painting along the James River

Courtney Sievers is an expressive artist living in Richmond, Virginia with her husband and son. She began her painting career at Mary Baldwin College earning a degree in Fine Art and Art Education in 1998. Her style is colorful and expressive and she loves creating images that evoke a happy mood or memory for somebody.

To Courtney, inspiration is everywhere. Clouds in the brilliant blue sky, morning sunlight hitting on a tree, all the gorgeous flowers growing around us, the beauty and power of water, the list can go on! To her nature is simply amazing with the abundance of color it provides. The best part for Courtney is expressing her awe of it on canvas and pulling her viewer into her paintings. Movement, texture and color are so exciting for her to create!

With her son Witten during the Homestead A-Z Book signing at Ruth and Ollie. Courtney did all illustrations in the book.

In Richmond you’ll find her in her home studio in the Fan District working on new pieces for galleries and commissions. When she is not painting, she enjoys being with family and friends, decorating her home and gardening, and she especially loves the beach!

Her works can be found in private and corporate collections around the country. Currently her works are on display at Partner MD in Richmond, VA, are available for purchase through Courtney at Palette Home and Frame of Mind, also in Richmond, VA. It is here that many influential interior designers bring their clients to consider her art for their private collections.
